` Prelude`
To any census taker or Imperial tithe assessor, the Jenys-S System appears as any other among the thousands of systems in the Imperium.

It is located in the Segmentum Solar and two of its five planets are habitable ? Jenys-S II and Jenys-S III.
They are both hive worlds with thriving trade and manufacturing sectors.

Tucked away in relatively secure space and with a sizeable Imperial Guard (the Harkonian 151st Regiment) force stationed there to gprotecth it, the Jenys-S System has never been attacked by xenos forces.
It hasn`t suffered any major civil insurrections in over 700 years.

It`s the kind of place that could easily be forgotten or overlooked.
But further, deeper inspection would reveal much more than meets the eye ? especially on the hive world, Jenys-S II.

Jenys-S II boasts several large hive cities: Modesty Hive, Eaden Hive and the seaside Hive of Pahradiess.
They are all located on the one of Jenys-S II`s three major continents.
Despite overcrowding in the hive cities, no one ever ventures into the other two uninhabited continents.

Why?

Well, most will say it`s because those areas are strangely barren and uninhabitable.
This desolation can be attributed to a civil war that occurred on Jenys-S II around 700 years ago and involved genicidal weapons of mass destruction.

Only a few souls ? in the highest echelons of power on Jenys-S II ? can tell you the true reason: the trade and manufacturing on the hive world is actually a front for a secret testing project taking place on these continents.

The project is simply called, The Reclamation.
The Reclamation was instigated by the High Lords long ago in response to the Tyranid threat. After several Tyranid hive fleets started entering Imperial space, the High Lords of Terra became most alarmed at the complete stripping of all life on each planet claimed by these all-devouring xenos.
Even should a Tyranid hive fleet be turned aside or destroyed, the planets lost to them could never be reclaimed, or so it was thought.

One tech-magos, Adept Biad-dur who specializes in bio-reconstruction and biological generating technologies, had found an ancient device of unknown origin buried deep within the vaults of Mars.

This archeotech is known only as gThe Life Generatorh and the Adept believed it to have the ability to spontaneously induce generation of living organisms on a planetary level ? the perfect counter to the Tyranid menace, the way to greclaimh lost planets.
No one can say where it came from or how it works.
Perhaps it was constructed by some long lost and forgotten xeno race.

Ongoing attempts by Adept Biad-dur to test The Life Generator have met with increasing success recently. Kilometer-wide flourishing green fields have sprung up on parts of the barren continents - seemingly from nowhere and in the span of a few days.
These test results have given The Reclamation the go ahead from the High Lords to test The Life Generator on a larger scale. And this has attracted the attention of othersc

This attention takes form as a contingent of the Chaos renegades known as The Alpha Legion, and they have been infiltrating Jenys-S II almost since The Reclamation started.
Their operatives have secretly turned many high ranking Imperial Guard to their cause and have taken over Eaden Hive and its adjacent starport.
It`s unclear what The Alpha Legion`s motives are in trying to capture the Life Generator, but the plots of their leader, Chaos Lord Judass the Arch-Slayer, have become more brazen.

Recently, the planetary governor of Jenys-S II suddenly tasked several squads of guardsmen with the requisitioning of a strange piece of archeotech currently in the control of the Adept Biad-dur.
En route to surrounding the Adept`s laboratory compound, the guardsmen were ambushed by unidentified assailants.
The soldiers did not know why they were charged with such a task and they knew even less why they met violent opposition and were mercilessly wiped out to a man.

The planetary governor`s unexplainable loss of more than 120 men on this classified mission attracted the attention of another dramatic personae, Lord Commissar Heinrich Krauser.

The esteemed Commissar Lord, a veteran of some of the most horrific warzones in the Imperium, had been playing out his last assignment on Jenys-S II as a sort of gpre-retirementh.
But he had started to detect dissention and subterfuge in some units. Spies were captured, tortured, and executed, but still Krauser could not discover the source of this corruption or how far it spread through the ranks of the Harkonian 151st.
But when the planetary governor, a man Krauser had never trusted, made his move and ordered troops to attack Adept`s compound without reason and was then unable to explain the losses of men, Krauser knew he had the traitor he was looking for.

Krauser used his status as Lord Commissar and his prestige as an impeccable war hero to arrange a meeting with the governor.
Once the two were alone, Krauser drew his bolt pistol and put a single bolt threw the governor`s head.
Upon later inspection, a strange green tattoo of a hydra was found on the governor`s body -a mark Krauser had seen some 35 years ago during the Battle of Argloss VI against its lost and damned traitor regiments backed by the Alpha Legion.

Now that he knew what he was up against, Lord Commissar Krauser declared martial law and took command of all of the armed forces on Jenys-S II.
He began a systematic inspection of each of the commanding officers, more hydra tattoos were found and those who had them were executed after being intensively interrogated.

For the most part, the Harkonian 151st decided to follow Krauser. His reputation could not be questioned and the guardsmen appreciated that he alone followed up on the disappearance of 120 of their fellow soldiers.

But in the Imperium, one cannot just execute a planetary governor, even someone as renown as Krauser.
A contingent of Imperial Fist Space Marines under the command of Captain Pauro Sandros has been dispatched to get the bottom of the whole mess.
Their mission: to assess whether Krauser has gone traitor, attempted to take over the planet, and tried to secure the mysterious artifact for his own ends.
They have also been briefed that other forces may be lurking on Jenys-S II.

And what might those forces be?

And who ambushed and slaughtered those guardsmen sent by the governor?

Where the forces of Chaos and mortals collide, the Eldar have been known to play a role.
Perhaps it was their doing. And who is to say the Alpha Legion are acting alone?

With seemingly little to gain from capturing the Life Generator, perhaps they are acting on behalf of a higher daemonic powercor against it.

The Alpha Legion has long refused the embrace of the true masters of Chaos ? the Daemons of Chaos.

And perhaps most puzzling is the presence of the Tyranids themselves.
Though unimaginably far from the nearest hive fleet, a previous unidentified hive-strain of Tyranid has begun to crawl across the surface of Jenys-S II.
Are these servants of the Great Devourer being drawn to The Life Generator?

As events escalate towards open warfare on the surface of Jenys-S II, Adept Biad-dur has suddenly gone missing; and with him, the Life Generator.

What faction will win control of the planet?

Who will be the first to find Adept Biad-dur and his miracle machine?
