Recently recovered Captain
Pauro Sandros decided to have his forces investigate one of the three old
abandoned fortress monasteries that once belonged to a small Astartes Chapter
called the Righteous Angels.
The Righteous Angels abandoned
their monasteries more than 300 years ago when they were absorbed into the
Black Templars constantly moving crusade.
Capatain Sandros figured a lot
of the equipment left behind might be useful to a Magos of the Adeptus
Mechanicus and so the missing Adept Biad-dur might be using the labs and
workshops in the fortresses or might be simply hiding out there. |
|
From his orbiting headquarters
aboard the Strike Cruiser, Unwavering, Pauro ordered a recon force to
investigate.
However, as the Imperial Fist Predators, Rhinos, and Land Speeders approached
the massive fortress, the noble Astartes were suddenly ambushed by a sizeable
Daemon force.
Shimmering warp gates opened
and gibbering Horrors and Flamers of Tzeentch poured through, followed by
snarling Bloodletters of Khorne.
Pauro ordered reserves to
shoot down through the clouds from the Imperial Fist Strike Cruiser and soon
bright yellow streaks landed in the thick of the fighting and mighty
Dreadnoughts burst from their Drop Pods. |
|
|
The revered giants blasted
apart Daemons with storm bolters, lascannons, and missile launchers.
But this Daemonic incursion
was not a random assault; it was lead by the mighty Keeper of Secrets,
Temptatrix, and his new lieutenant ? a mighty Daemon Prince of Tzeentch.
|
|
The towering avatar to
Tzeentch charged through the line of Dreadnoughts and blasted apart Brother
Indicus with a bolt of blue energy.
Pointing his finger at a
dominating Ironclad Dreadnought, the Daemon Prince screamed another unholy
curse and crackling azure energy tore the huge war machine apart.
With their vanguard broken,
the Imperial Fists attempted to rain lascannon blasts and krak missiles at the
oncoming cursed horde, but the Daemon Prince of Tzeentch deflected blast after
blast with magical shields of warp energy.
|
|
Realizing that his outflanking
scout squads were about to fly right into the heart of the Daemon`s assault and
certain death, Captain Sandros himself boarded a drop pod with 10 of his finest
battle brothers. |
|
They landed right next to
Temptatrix itself and a nearby gang of disease-bloated Plaguebearers.
The Space Marines engaged the
titanic Greater Daemon without hesitation and managed to cut down some of the
filthy Daemons of Nurgle, but the walking god of Slaanesh slew the Imperial
Fists with contemptuous ease.
The Captain again made one of
his famous rash decisions and instead of running, challenged Temptarix to a
duel.
The Space Marine Captain
struck a might blow with his power fist that sent the Greater Daemon reeling
backwards. But the Keeper of Secrets
would not be bested and thrust his huge magical blade through the captain`s
abdomen, nearly slicing him in two. |
|
|
Two scouts that had survived
the Daemon`s fury later recovered Pauro`s body and returned it to his Strike
Cruiser.
With an undefyable will to
live and some bionic modifications, the Captain of 3rd Company somehow survived
and pulled through.
From his recovery containment
unit in the Apothecary`s lab, Pauro received the disappointing news that many
battle brothers were lost and there was no sign of the Adept`s presence within
the fortress monastery.
Captain Sandros was left to
meditate his next course of action while he healed.
He hoped his Imperial Guard
allies ? the Harkonian 151st and the newly arrived Yamadan Steel Guard - were
achieving more success. |

Meanwhile, Judass the
Arch-Slayer, Chaos Lord of the Alpha Legion, discovered a new problem to add to
his many other problems with the escalating war on Jenys-S II.
Borsis, one of his
lieutenants, was apparently attempting to undermine him.
Borsis had a few loyal squads
following him and had even taken to imitating Judass recently by tying his hair
in a top-knot and wielding a plasma pistol like the Chaos Lord. Judass decided to eliminate
this upstart and his hangers-on in the most humiliating way possible and
ordered them to check out one of the abandoned Astartes fortress monasteries
for signs of the missing Adept and to counter resistance in the area from Eldar
forces. |
|
In fact, there were no Eldar
in that region according to Judass`s spies.
So, he decided to set a trap
by having his loyal follower, Supreme Commander Rolando des Gard attack the
fortress when they spotted “loyalist
Space Marines attempting to impersonate the Alpha Legion”. |
|
|
The Arch-Slayer laughed at his
diabolical plan and went back to his chief task of searching Adept Biad-dur`s
mountain stronghold laboratory for clues to the Tech-Magos`s whereabouts. |
|
The ensuing conflict between
the PDF and Borsis`s forces was more of a slaughter than a battle.
Realizing his forces were under attack by their supposed allies, the Jenys-S
II Firstborn, Borsis tired to raise a vox line to their commander and tell
them to call of their massive bombardment and shelling of the Alpha Legion
hiding in the ruins behind the fortress.
But, Supreme Commander Rolando
himself answered, “You are not the Alpha Legion.
You are imposters.
My liege, Judass the
Arch-Slayer has proclaimed so…and he has
proclaimed that you must die!”
Enraged and watching his
followers cut down like helpless lambs before the onslaught unleashed by the
PDF tanks; Borsis lead the final charge from the ruins.
He punched a hole with his
power fist through a PDF Banewolf tank causing the toxic chemical tank to
rupture and drown all the occupants. |
|
|
|
Roaring in triumph, the
presumptuous Chaos Lieutenant looked up just in time to notice a group of
Ratling snipers aiming their rifles at him…
Judass laughed harder than he had in a century when he heard that the upstart
Borsis was slain by a Ratling bullet through the head.
It momentarily took his mind
off all of the startling revelations gathered from the Tech-Adept`s laboratory. |
The Chaos Lord had been
pondering all he had learned.
The whole history of the
planet called Jenys-S II was a lie.
There was no civil war 700
years ago.
There was a war 150 years ago
when Jenys-S II was still a lightly populated agri-world.
That war left two and half
continents barren and lifeless, but it was not a civil war.
It was a war between the PDF and…

Piling the corpses of “pretender Alpha Legion” into two mass graves
with the dozer blades on his Leman Russ Punishers, Supreme Commander Rolando
des Gard smiled.
He had successfully carried
out his master`s will.
But he was also a little
agitated that he could engage the real threat to the Alpha Legion`s plans ?
Lord Commissar Krauser and the Harkonian 151st.
He wanted to chop off the Lord
Commissar`s head with his eviscerator and present it to the Arch-Slayer as a
sign of his iron loyalty.
But little did the commander
realize, his forces were being watched at that moment and were about to be
attacked by a personal friend of Krauser`s… Colonel Gary McMillan had been the first to answer Lord Commissar Krauser`s
call for reinforcements on Jenys-S II.
He brought a large strike force of his Iron Guard from the nearby Mordian
82nd. |
|
Now, the disciplined forward commanders of his Mordian 82nd Iron Guard were waiting for the signal to begin their lighting strike
on the suspected PDF traitors.
Leman Russ Executioners,
Chimeras and Vendetta strike craft sped forward at the colonel`s command and
began their swift attack from the opposite side of the abandoned fortress
monastery. But, Rolando and his men
recouped quickly to intercept the attack.
|
|
Soon, the air was thick with
lascannon, multi-laser, and lasgun blasts.
Seemingly impenetrable tanks
were split open in balls of orange fire by unrestrained fire from both sides.
Colonel McMillan`s command
Chimera was hit early in the fighting and he was forced to retreat on foot back
to the rendezvous point. |
|
|
His trusted second-in-command,
Major Mighty Max led a solo flanking attack that nearly slew the traitor PDF
commander, Rolando. But, Max suffered grave
injuries from return fire and crawled to safety. |
|
|
|
Soon, the Mordian 82nd Iron Guard had no choice but to retreat; the Jenys-S Firstborn had claimed another victory. |
|
|
|
300 kilometers away, the Lord
Commissar himself had another enemy in his sights at that very moment. The reports were correct,
Tyranid organisms were not only crawling on the surface of jenys-S II, but they
had taken over a large manufactorum sector south of the mountains. |
|
|
|
The Lord Commissar led his men
from the front lines again and drove the vile invaders out of the manufactorum
complexes.
Krauser himself suffered a
minor wound; but not before his tanks poured their firepower into the
leader-beast, a massive and disturbingly self-aware Hive Tyrant that had been
dubbed “Leader Organism #1342”.
Both sides took heavy losses
during the battle, but Lord Commissar Krauser had brought plenty of back up to
withstand a protracted fight. |
|
|
|
The wounded Hive Tyrant and
its surviving subjects scuttled away in retreat.
|
|
Guardsmen bearing flamers and heavy flamers scoured the manufactorum complexes
with promethium to rid them of xenos taint while still keeping their production
capacity intact.
Krauser personally inspected
the facilities afterwards; he wanted these facilities churning out more lasguns
and lascannons as soon as possible.
During his inspection, Krauser
found a hidden laboratory underneath the main complex that hadn`t been
disturbed in 152 years.
There Krauser learned the truth of Jenys-S II`s history.
There was no civil war 700
years ago that left 80 percent of the planet`s landmass uninhabitable.
That was just a story to cover
up a more horrible truth.
It was true that the Imperium
had chosen Jenys-S II as a site to test ways to combat the destruction of the
Tyranids…160 years ago!
Organisms were captured from
the surviving Tyranids in Hive Fleet Behometh and secretly brought to Jenys-S
II for study.
But the forbidden experiments
got out of hand and soon, a Tyranid organism mutated into what would become
Leader Organism 1342.
That lone Hive Tyrant led an
uprising of sorts and soon the Tyranids were attacking the people and
agri-sectors of the planet.
The PDF mobilized to oppose
the Tyranids, but it was too late: the xenos organisms had taken over more than
half the planet in a little over 10 days.
So, Imperial navy vessels were
called in and told to destroy everything because an uncontrollable Chaos
uprising had erupted on the planet`s surface.
And the truth about the
horrible experiments here on Jenys-S II ? so close to Terra itself - were left
buried and forgotten for 150 years.
But some of the Tyranid
organisms somehow survived and were now consuming what they could find…and their numbers were growing.
Would history repeat itself on
Jenys-S II?
Would the Tyranids consume
human and Astartes and Eldar alike until they crawled all over the planet`s
surface and another exterminates had be ordered?
Krauser sunk into deep
meditative thought when one of his advisors burst into his personal quarters
and informed him that the location of Adept Biad-dur had been discovered at
last!
But it would require an
all-out assault to secure that area from a very dangerous enemy…
